Welcome to

North Road Bread Box

North Road Bread Box is more than just a little box on the side of the road, it’s a place built on family, community, and good, honest food. What started in my home kitchen has grown into a space where neighbors can slow down, feel cared for, and enjoy something truly homemade.

Every loaf, roll, and treat is made by hand using simple, wholesome ingredients. I never use artificial flavors, dyes, or shortcuts, just real food, prepared the way it should be. Each batch is baked with care and intention, focusing on quality, comfort, and flavor.

The bread box operates on trust and kindness, inspired by simpler times when food was shared and community mattered. Whether you’re stopping by for your weekly sourdough, a special treat, or something to bring to the table with family and friends, my hope is that what you take home brings warmth and joy.

North Road Bread Box exists to serve the community as a whole. Everyone is welcome here, and I’m so grateful to be part of your everyday moments, celebrations, and gatherings.

Thank you for supporting a small, home-based bakery and for choosing food made with heart.

What makes sourdough the healthiest bread?

Sourdough is often considered the healthiest bread because of how it’s fermented and what it’s made from:

  • Natural fermentation breaks down gluten and phytic acid, making it easier to digest

  • Better nutrient absorption because minerals like iron, zinc, and magnesium are more available

  • Lower glycemic impact, so it doesn’t spike blood sugar like many commercial breads

  • No commercial yeast needed, just flour, water, salt, and time

  • Supports gut health thanks to beneficial bacteria created during fermentation

When made traditionally and slowly, sourdough is simple, nourishing, and closer to how bread was meant to be made.

Why Choose Us

Choosing North Road Bread Box means choosing quality, simplicity, and baking done the right way.

Every loaf and baked good is made from scratch in small batches using carefully selected, wholesome ingredients. You won’t find artificial flavors, dyes, preservatives, or commercial shortcuts—just real food, prepared slowly and thoughtfully for the best flavor and texture.

Sourdough is at the heart of what I do. Naturally fermented and made with time, it’s easier to digest, more flavorful, and rooted in traditional bread making. Many items are naturally sweetened or made without refined sugars, offering options that feel both comforting and nourishing.

In addition to breads and baked goods, I also create all-natural jams and canned goods made in small batches using real fruit, simple ingredients, and time-honored methods. No artificial pectin, colors, or preservatives—just seasonal flavors preserved the way they should be.

At North Road Bread Box, everything is made with intention, consistency, and care. When you choose us, you’re choosing homemade foods you can trust, proudly share, and feel good about bringing to your table.

I started baking at a very young age alongside my mom. What began as something fun to do together quickly grew into a true passion. The kitchen became our place where memories were made, lessons were learned, and love was shared through food.

My mom taught me the basics of cooking and baking, and from there I took off. I focused on taking cooking classes through home economics and every cooking class my mom could get us into. One of my favorite experiences was a Julia Child–inspired cooking class, where her neighbor was present and shared personal memories. We even got to look through Julia’s cookbook, filled with handwritten notes. I was obsessed... to say the least.

She encouraged me every step of the way, through both the successes and the mistakes. Those moments, good and bad, shaped not only my skills, but my confidence. Without her guidance, patience, and constant encouragement, I would not be the baker and cook I am today.

Then I married my husband, Jimmy, who many of you get to meet at markets when I double-book myself. He’s an avid hunter and fisherman, and I jumped right in, learning how to make wild game taste amazing. My favorite recipe to date is bear bourguignon, a total party favorite. It’s been such a joy having a best friend in the kitchen again.

Now, I get the chance to bake with my boys, and it fills my heart in ways I never imagined. Watching the love of food and togetherness carry on to the next generation.

I’m incredibly lucky to be surrounded by people who love me enough to encourage what I love to do. And for all the non-cooks in my family. They make the best taste testers. I still call my mom before I check Google with any cooking, baking, or canning question, so it’s safe to say I’ve loved this my entire life.

Now I get the chance to bake for you and there is no better feeling than receiving a message from someone who loves everything I make. Thank you for supporting my dream and allowing me to do what I love every single day.

With love and butter,
Jennifer
